RESEARCH PROJECT

Since April 2023, I've been a post-doctoral fellow in the Plant pathology unit in the Virology team. My research is an integral part of the ID4VISA21 project in collaboration with the BFP unit (INRAE Bordeaux). This project focuses on the adaptation mechanisms of potato virus Y (PVY) to different host plants.

Viruses have a small and a particularly optimized genome, which leaves little scope for mutations. However, recent studies have shown that some virus proteins, especially VPg and P1, contain disordered regions (i.e. without a fixed three-dimensional structure) that can accommodate more mutations. These proteins interact with plant proteins to multiply, leading us to hypothesize that the intrinsic disorder of viral proteins plays a role in the adaptation of viruses to their host plant.
