PAVLE SAVIC - Campus France project - 2023-2024

Supporting plant health: building capacity for Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis field surveillance in tomato crops

  • Funding: Campus France
  • Project: The main objective of the project is to create a foundation for plant health surveillance through in situ disease detection using fast and easy-to-use molecular biology tools. The specific objectives of this research project are (i) to transfer knowledge and technology from the French research group to the Serbian research group about Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) for fast and accurate in-field detection of Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis (Cmm) (ii) to evaluate and validate in both countries the performance of the LAMP assay for in situ detection of Cmm both in tomato plants and on inert surfaces and to (iii) accumulate data on the usefulness of this tool for management of bacterial disease canker.
