Protect Froid - France Relance project - 2021-2024

Develop farm advisory tools and protective measures to mitigate the risk of frost on fruit trees

  • Funding: France Relance
  • The project aims to create expertise to improve the management of the risk of damage due to frost in fruit trees. In order to offer solutions to the growing risk of frost damage, B-Hive and INRAE are seeking to increase knowledge of the risk factors, exposure and vulnerability to frost in fruit trees. The knowledge created will be used to develop novel agronomic interventions to reduce frost damage. These interventions may seek, for example, to modify the phenological advancement of trees, the water content of buds, the distribution and circulation of cold in orchards or the abundance of ice-forming microorganisms on plants.
