FRAGARIA - CASDAR Project - 2026-2030

Emerging Wilt of Strawberry Plants: Study of Causes, Development of Detection and Management Methods

  • Funding: CASDAR Connaissances 2026
  • Project: The objective of the FRAGARIA project is to identify the agents responsible for the strawberry plant decline observed in France since 2024 and to provide stakeholders in the strawberry sector with detection and control methods that will help ensure the long-term sustainability of strawberry production systems. To achieve this objective, FRAGARIA aims to identify the pathogens responsible for the decline and to generate knowledge on the conditions that favor disease development. In addition, the rapid detection tool developed within the project will provide valuable insights into the epidemiology and spread of the pathogen throughout the production chain, from nurseries to fruit production. Finally, by investigating the susceptibility of strawberry cultivars and evaluating potential disease management strategies, the project will provide growers with practical solutions to adapt their production systems to these emerging plant pathogens.
