For a durable protection of horticultural crops

Our research focuses on the bacterial, fungal and viral diseases affecting fruit and vegetable crops  grown in the Mediterranean Basin. We study the biology and evolution of these microbial pathogens as well as their interactions with host plants, the environment and agricultural practices, to understand better the epidemiological processes and to propose the most suitable control methods with low inputs and no negative impact on the environment or human health.

Formation / Biology of Vector-Borne Diseases (BVBD) – France

We are pleased to announce the Biology of Vector-Borne Diseases (BVBD) – France summer school, to be held 1–5 June 2026 in Avignon, France. Several researchers from our research unit (Karine Berthier, Cindy Morris, and Alexandra Schoeny) will participate in this training.

Congratulations to Loup, who successfully defended his habilitation to supervise research (HDR) on 6 November 2025 in Avignon. Modeller in epidemiology and evolution, he has been a research fellow in the Virology team since 1 September 2018.. His main research interest focus on the identification of efficient, cost-effective and durable strategies to manage plant diseases and especially those caused by viruses on vegetable crops.
